Water companies are required to report annually to the Environment Agency on progress towards targets and trajectories set in their water resources management plans (WRMPs). We have taken these data and presented them in this interactive format to enhance transparency around our collective progress. We will update the underlying data each year to support future progress reporting.
The dashboard combines two ‘Open Data’ datasets published by the Environment Agency on data.gov.uk.
- WRMP Annual Review reports for each performance year (April to March inclusive) from 2005 to the present day.
- WRMP forecast data from 2025 through to 2050.
Note that from year to year performance on individual metrics may vary considerably, due to weather and other factors. Therefore assessing trends in data – rather than values for individual years – can be more useful in assessing the progress being made.
WRMP Annual Review data
This dataset displays the collated outturn/reported values that water companies provide to the EA every summer through their Annual Review reports for the previous performance year. These data are used to assess delivery and progress against their published WRMPs, and are audited before they are published.

WRMP forecast data
Forecast data are presented to the Environment Agency by water companies to accompany their 2024 WRMPs. This dataset displays the baseline scenario (ie. do nothing/do minimum) and a final planning scenario adopted for their WRMP. Data are based on Dry Year Annual Average (DYAA) values for each of the key demand and water supply-side metrics in WRMP data tables.
